Israel's Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu was invited by the Republican Party to address Congress on Tuesday in regards to a possible nuclear deal with Iran and President Obama had no idea this was happening. This was apparently a direct breach of protocol, which Obama is of course unhappy about. It is important to note 2 quick things about these unfoldings before i continue:
1.) House leader John Boehner (Republican Party) and Obama have had "pissing contests" in the past.
2.) We are talking about dealing with nuclear weapons here. Some of the most destructive forces mankind has ever come up with.
The article below is interesting because although this is serious stuff involving weapons that have the power to kill more innocent people than i care to think about, there are quotes in here like;
"With Obama past the mid-point of his final term, his aides see an Iran nuclear deal as a potential signature achievement for a foreign policy legacy notably short on major successes."
-and-
"U.S. officials fear he is seeking to sabotage the Iran diplomacy, and critics have suggested his visit is an elaborate election stunt that will play well with voters back home."
To me this sounds less like world leaders trying to protect their people, and more like two men working on their resumes while another works to piss off a rival. This could very well be the fatal flaw in allowing small groups of people large amounts of control. Individuals flexing muscle to build a "legacy" concerning matters that affect us all can't possibly be for the greater good can they? Maybe i'm just crazy.
